Custom Paintings

I ran the promotion below on my Facebook page in mid November, and the offer was met with great interest and support. I'm very proud to share that with your support we raised almost a thousand dollars for the Tri County Humane Society!! I enjoyed painting the portraits so much, and since this was a very fulfilling project, I've decided to continue the donation and partnership with the Humane Society to anyone who commissions me to do an animal portrait from this point forward!

This was a commissioned painting for a friend for Father's Day, a scene of their beautiful cabin in the morning light.

I personally love painting barns, there is so much history and character to them, a portal to another place and time, an entire livelihood. I had a mentor when I first started painting that would paint barns and would often say that by painting them he felt like he was able to "breathe a new life into them". I agree with that, there is something about commemorating and celebrating something that has that much character and history to it. 

The second picture is an example of the photo that was submitted for this commission, as you can see it wasn't of the highest quality, but was the best they had. And we made do, I am satisfied with the results and the owners are too.

Giving thanks... It’s crazy to think I’ve been painting for over 17 years! Over time can we learn to enjoy and embrace things about our work that we previously found less desirable? Custom paintings are that way for me; seeing someone's face light up with pure emotion and genuine appreciation for what you made – you can’t help but feel a sense of purpose in being an artist. Its reciprocity and balance – THANK YOU to all my customers over the years who have given my craft and passion a sense of purpose in this world!
